Mission of CIA
Coronado Investment Advisors, LLC ("CIA") is a registered investment advisory firm based in Carlsbad, California. CIA began its operations in Coronado in March 2016 but relocated to Carlsbad in October 2020. CIA’s primary goal is to use scientific reasoning paired with active investment decision-making to help those clients utilizing CIA’s central strategies achieve positive portfolio returns over periods of greater than one year, regardless of market environment. CIA’s secondary and tertiary goals are those of providing customized investment management for those with highly specific goals and/or constraints, as well as offering simple, low cost investment solutions for those wanting a less-active and very basic approach, respectively.
CIA Methodology
Using Bayesian inferential techniques, as well as methods developed by the firm's Chief Investment Officer over a period of two decades, CIA applies both active individual security (e.g., stock) selection and active asset allocation to portfolio decisions in an effort to place portfolios along the growth path of least resistance, as well as to generate excess returns and to manage portfolio market risk. Based on evidence, CIA holds the view that much of the price movement of financial markets is predicable given the right market philosophy and corresponding prediction methodologies.

Recognizing that investor tolerance for risk can vary greatly from client to client and over time by client, CIA offers active investment and trading strategies ranging from the very conservative to the highly aggressive. In addition to its central active strategies, CIA offers a range of customized portfolio management solutions, as well as less active and low-cost basic strategies.
Ease and Flexibility of Use
We endeavor to make your life easier and better by working with us. CIA has no account minimums, no minimum annual fee and offers relatively low, tiered investment management fees ranging from 0.9% to 0.3% per year. For those with 401k's, we also offer non-discretionary active investment recommendations at a discounted rate. Most of our account documentation (e.g., new account opening, transfer, etc.) can be executed via DocuSign, meaning that the process of transferring an account to us is virtually effortless for you. Clients are free to leave CIA whenever they please and are not contractually obligated to remain with CIA for any length of time; in such case that a client leaves, any investment management fee charged in advance for services yet-to-be rendered will be promptly refunded to the client.
Separation of Powers
Coronado Investment Advisors, LLC never takes custody of client assets. Your assets are always held in custody apart from CIA and are safeguarded by the brokerage company or bank of your choosing. In the management of your account(s), CIA is granted by you only limited power of attorney (LPOA) to make the investment decisions on your behalf.
